Hey friends, if you’re reading this right now, chances are you or someone you love is walking through a tough season. Maybe it’s a health scare, financial stress, a broken relationship, grief that won’t let go, or just that heavy feeling that life is pressing in from every side. I’ve been there more times than I can count. As a Christian who’s spent years digging into God’s Word, I can tell you this: hard times don’t mean God has abandoned us. In fact, they’re often the very places where our faith grows deepest.
The Bible doesn’t sugarcoat suffering. Jesus Himself said, “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). But He also promised that He has overcome the world. The pages of Scripture are filled with real people—David hiding in caves, Paul in prison, Job losing everything—who chose to trust God anyway. Their stories remind us that faith isn’t the absence of pain; it’s trusting God in the pain.
Today, let’s explore what the Bible says about holding onto faith during difficult times. We’ll look at why trials come, how God meets us in them, practical ways to strengthen our faith, and—at least 20 powerful verses to anchor your heart.
Why Does God Allow Hard Times?
Trials test and refine our faith like fire purifies gold (1 Peter 1:6-7). They strip away self-reliance and teach us to depend fully on the Lord. James 1:2-4 puts it beautifully: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

- Pray honestly — Pour out your heart like the Psalms. Cast your anxieties on Him because He cares (1 Peter 5:7).
- Remember God’s past faithfulness — Keep a journal of answered prayers and provision.
- Connect with community — Don’t isolate. The body of Christ is there to bear burdens together.
- Worship anyway — Praise shifts our focus from the problem to the Problem-Solver.
- Serve others — Helping someone else often lifts our own eyes from our troubles.

Friend, if today feels overwhelming, know that you’re not alone. God sees you. He knows every tear (Psalm 56:8). The same God who brought Israel through the Red Sea, who raised Lazarus, and who raised Jesus from the dead is fighting for you.
